First Japan-China Policy Dialogue on Decarbonization Held

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of the People’s Republic of China held the first Japan-China Policy Dialogue on Decarbonization online on November 26 (Fri.). The participants presented and exchanged views on both countries’ efforts toward decarbonization.

This policy dialogue was established as a forum for presenting to each other and exchanging views on Japan’s and China’s efforts toward carbon neutrality.

Held for the first time this time, the dialogue took place online. It was attended by Mr. Minami Ryo, Deputy Commissioner for International Policy on Carbon Neutrality of METI, and Mr. Su Wei, Deputy Secretary General of NDRC. They introduced Japan’s Sixth Strategic Energy Plan, China’s Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peaking Before 2030, and other policies, and exchanged opinions on efforts in areas they are interested in. The leaders also agreed to hold this policy dialogue regularly in the future.
