The FY2018 Green Logistics Partnership Conference to be Held

On December 11 (Tue.), 2018, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), the Japan Institute of Logistics Systems (JILS), and the Japan Association for Logistics and Transport will jointly hold the FY2018 Green Logistics Partnership Conference at the Nikkei Conference Room.

At the FY2018 conference, a commendation ceremony will be held to recognize businesses for their remarkable contributions to the establishment of sustainable logistics systems by reducing environmental burdens or improving productivity in terms of distribution. Winners will make presentations explaining their recognized efforts.

1. Outline of the conference

The Green Logistics Partnership Conference is a meeting body established in April 2005 through joint efforts between METI, MLIT, and related industrial organizations to expand collaborative efforts between consignors and logistics business operators for reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the logistics sector in Japan. The conference has been making efforts to raise public awareness of green logistics based on partnerships between consignors and logistics business operators, recognize excellent case examples, and promote publicity.

2. Excellent Green Logistics Commendation Program

Under the program, businesses that have achieved remarkable contributions to the establishment of sustainable logistics systems by reducing environmental burden or improving productivity in terms of distribution have been recognized as winners every fiscal year for METI Minister’s Awards and Awards of the METI Director-General for Commerce and Service Industry Policy.
