On August 19 (Wed.), 2020, Mr. Kajiyama Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.R.H. Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Minister of Energy, Saudi Arabia, via video conference.
At the meeting, Minister Kajiyama delivered his appreciation to Minister Abdulaziz for Saudi Arabia’s stable supply of crude oil to Japan given the recent difficulties concerning the Middle East and the novel coronavirus disease.. Following this, the two sides confirmed a stable supply of crude oil to Japan in the future. In addition, the ministers held discussions on the enhancement of the Japan-Saudi relationship in the field of energy, including circular carbon economy and carbon recycling,* and they agreed that Japan, the former G20 chair, and Saudi Arabia, the 2020 G20 chair, will advance collaboration on multilateral occasions.
*Note: The term “carbon recycling” refers to a system in which carbon dioxide, recognized as a source of carbon, is collected and recycled into a variety of carbon compounds.
