On April 17 (Fri.), 2020, Mr. Kajiyama Hiroshi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a telephone conference with H.E. Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, the 2020 ASEAN chair. The two ministers agreed on issuance of “ASEAN-Japan Economic Ministers’ Joint statement on Initiatives on Economic Resilience in Response to the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak ,” aiming to encourage Japan and ASEAN economies, which have built close economic ties, to overcome the difficulty of the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease and to build economies resilient against crises.

On April 17 (Fri.), 2020, Minister Kajiyama held a telephone conference with H.E. Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam, the 2020 ASEAN chair.
The two ministers focused on the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease, an unprecedented challenge, and agreed on issuance of “ASEAN-Japan Economic Ministers’ Joint statement on Initiatives on Economic Resilience in Response to the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak ,” aiming to achieve the goal of: overcoming the disease in parallel not only with preventing the outbreak of the disease as a top priority but also with mitigating the impacts caused by the disease on economies, which have been becoming more and more serious; following the overcoming of the disease, building economies resilient against crises; and then bringing the economies back to the track of stable economic growth.
