The annual EU-Japan Business Roundtable was held on November 15 (Tue.). It was attended by Mr. NAKATANI Shinichi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Mr. NAKATANI Shinichi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the annual EU-Japan Business Roundtable, a meeting in which industry players from Japan and the EU offer recommendations to both governments.
Many representatives from the public and private sectors in both Japan and the EU participated. These included Mr. SAKUYAMA Masaki, Senior Corporate Advisor, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (the chair on the Japan side); Mr. Philippe Wahl, Chairman and CEO, Le Groupe La Poste (France) (the chair on the EU side). During the meeting, State Minister Nakatani spoke about issues including the importance of cooperation between Japan and the EU in the areas of digital technology, climate change, third-country cooperation, and trade.
In addition, Ms. KASHIWABARA Kyoko, Director-General of the Multilateral Trade System Department, attended a joint session with authorities where she exchanged views on issues which Japan and the EU were working together to tackle—including those related to climate change—and explained Japan’s efforts to address them.
