Japan Reports on Progress in Preparation for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, at the 168th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE)

At the 168th General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) held online on June 29 (Tue.), 2021, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) reported on progress made in its preparation for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, before other BIE member countries.

On June 29 (Tue.), 2021, the 168th BIE General Assembly was held online. At the assembly, in addition to regular briefings by the BIE committees, some delegates reported on progress in their preparation for their future expositions.

Details of the report on Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

Mr. Sakakibara Sadayuki, Ambassador for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, reported on the progress that has been made in Japan’s preparation for the exposition since the convening of the BIE General Assembly in December 2020. He reported in particular on the Japanese government’s efforts, including the Cabinet’s approval of the basic policy and activities to invite participants, and on the countries, international organizations, etc. that have announced their participation. In addition, Mr. Ishige Hiroyuki, Secretary General, Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, reported on the organizer’s activities, including formulation of a basic plan, designing the venue, and activities to raise momentum toward the exposition.
