TICAD 8 Preview Event Held: “New Trends in African Business – Diverse Approaches and Keys to Success”

A TICAD 8 preview event titled “New Trends in African Business – Diverse Approaches and Keys to Success” was held on June 22, 2022 (Wed.). Mr. Hagiuda Koichi, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry gave the keynote speech, and Mr. Iwata Kazuchika, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry gave the closing address.

Overview

Ahead of the Eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in Tunisia, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) co-hosted a preview event titled “New Trends in African Business – Diverse Approaches and Keys to Success.”
With African business having slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event looked at restoring momentum to it, then strengthening Japanese companies’ international competitiveness through it. Stakeholders in African business then discussed topics including the current situation, approaches, policy directions, and specific measures regarding it.
