The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) have certified the plan for public tender for occupancy submitted by Goto Floating Wind Farm LLC, the operator selected for a project in offshore Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture. This area is a promotion zone for the development of marine renewable energy power generation facilities under the Act on Promoting Utilization of Sea Areas in Development of Power Generation Facilities Using Maritime Renewable Energy Resources.
Background
- On December 27, 2019, METI and MLIT designated Goto City in Nagasaki Prefecture as a promotion zone for the development of marine renewable energy power generation facilities under the Act on Promoting Utilization of Sea Areas in Development of Power Generation Facilities Using Maritime Renewable Energy Resources (Act No. 89 of 2018). After subsequently issuing a call for operators for an offshore wind power generation project, they selected a consortium called Goto City Offshore Wind Power Generation LLC (provisional name; now Goto Floating Wind Farm LLC) on June 11, 2021.
- The plan for public tender for occupancy submitted by said operator has been certified as pertinent to Article 17, Item 1 of the Act on Promoting Utilization of Sea Areas in Development of Power Generation Facilities Using Maritime Renewable Energy Resources, so it will be publicly announced based on Article 2 of said act.

Duration of occupancy of the sea area within the promotion zone: From July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2052 (However, this duration is limited to the validity period of the certification of the plan for public tender for occupancy.)
