On March 10th, 2020 the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) held the Eighth Japan-Korea Export Control Dialogue. At the Dialogue, both sides updated and exchanged views on improvements in system and implementation of trade and sensitive technology transfers controls, in order to contribute to exploring resolution of issues of concern.
On March 10th, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) held the Eighth Japan-Korea Export Control Dialogue via videoconference system.At the Dialogue, both sides updated and exchanged views on improvements in system and implementation of trade and sensitive technology transfers controls, in order to contribute to exploring resolution of issues of concern.
During the Dialogue, both sides welcomed recent plans to improve legal basis and institutional capabilities in both countries, including latest developments in the Republic of Korea. Both sides also shared hopes in further improvements in efficiency of control over trade and technology transfers in both countries. Furthermore, with respect to the current international security environment, both sides shared the view that it is necessary to continue promoting effective export controls within their areas of responsibility and discretion.
In this context, both sides agreed to continue the Dialogue and communications in order to contribute to exploring resolution of issues of concern discussed between export control authorities such as the three items, list of preferred trade partner countries, catch-all control for conventional weapons and reinforcement of organization and personnel.
