State Minister Nagasaka Attends First Meeting of Global Commission on People-Centered Clean Energy Transitions

On March 15, 2021, the First Meeting of the Global Commission on People-Centered Clean Energy Transitions, hosted by the International Energy Agency (IEA), was held via video conference and Mr. Nagasaka Yasumasa, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the meeting.

The Global Commission on People-Centered Clean Energy Transitions, hosted by the IEA under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Denmark, is an opportunity for ministerial-level officials to hold discussions on energy transitions focusing on future events, e.g., COP26. The meeting of the commission was held on March 15 for the first time. This meeting brought together Dr. Fatih Birol, IEA Executive Director, ministers of member countries and representatives of international organizations.

Representing Japan, State Minister Nagasaka attended the meeting and conveyed the importance of advancing diverse approaches to energy transitions, which are tailored to the conditions of the respective member countries, and also the significance of simultaneously achieving stable energy supply and energy transitions.
